Race Info
April 29, 2001 -- 7:00 AM Start
1st runners need to be at the bus at 5:00 AM. You will be bused to the start in Big Sur, and to all exchange points from Carmel High School. After completing your leg you will be bused back to the finish line at Rio Road. You have the option of running through other legs if you like.

$260.00 == $52/person.

Where to Stay April 28th in Monterey
- Stay Here: Thunderbird Motel, Seaside.
I have several rooms reserved. You should plan to stay here,
with the team. Let me know. I will tell the motel operators
to give you access to one of the rooms
The price this year is $65 per room. Should end up being
about $28 per person depending on final numbers. (includes
city taxes).

What to Do Race Weekend
- Meet at The Loose Noodle Saturday Nite: 6PM
Address at bottom.
- Monterey Conference Center (optional)
Fitness Expo Friday and Saturday
8 AM to 7PM Saturday (in conjunction with race packet pick-up)
Directions to Conference Center:
Southbound on Hwy 1, take Monterey Exit. Turn
right on Camino Aguajito, then left onto Del Monte
Conference Center will be on the right across from
the Marriott.
- Leave the race packet pick-up to your organizer (me).
- Bring your running gear, of course. Include some warm pullover
sweats because the early morning is pretty chilly.
- Race morning:
- Bib number pinned to shirt
- vaseline on friction spots
- trim toe nails
- big sur marathon plastic poncho or plastic garbage bag for rain
- race bag for sweats (it's cold in the morning)
- hydrate (at least 16 oz.)
- Getting to your relay leg start is by bus only.

I-880 S becomes CA-17 S.
Drive 4.0 miles.
Follow the signs to stay on CA-17 S.
Drive 3.8 miles.
Turn LEFT onto CA-17.
Drive 12.6 miles.
CA-17 becomes CA-17 S.
Drive 5.9 miles.
Take the CA-1 SOUTH exit on the RIGHT towards WATSONVILLE/MONTEREY.
Drive 0.4 miles.
Merge onto CA-1 S.
CA-1 S becomes CA-1.
Drive 20.5 miles.
Take the CA-218 exit on the RIGHT towards SEASIDE/DEL REY OAKS.
Drive 0.1 miles.
Turn LEFT onto CANYON DEL REY BLVD.
Drive 0.9 miles.
Turn LEFT onto FREMONT BLVD.
Drive 1.1 miles to your destination at 1933 Fremont St..
